Inspiration and intertextuality

Inspiration

Low-Production Value

The Beths - "Happy "Unhappy" :

- Continuous motifs that the viewer infers meaning from

Arctic Monkeys - "Cornerstone" :

- One singer in almost black-and-white to begin with then transitioning into partial colour moving back and forth across a bank background without leaving the frame

Charlotte Gainsbourg - "Deadly Valentine"

- How two people grow together
- Motif of moving through life together abstractly

The White Stripes - "Hardest Button to Button":

- Colour co-ordination

- Stop-motion

Intertextuality

- Little Women:
1) Meg and John skipping stones (two of the girls, the third one is also in the shot and out of sync to represent how she is feeling left out)
2) The girl that is left out is reading Shakespeare
3) The girl that is left out is reading whilst the other two are listening, representing how the other twos relationship with her is platonic versus their more romantic relationship, as shown through them imitating a romantic relationship.
